The Hayden Project was a 2,300 square foot, 3-story, 4-bedroom custom log home nestled along the banks of a lake. With floor to ceiling windows, both the main and second levels provide spectacular views out across the water. The walk-out basement allows access to the shoreline in just a few short steps. The large wraparound porch enables access to the outside from every part of the house.
The biggest challenge was accessibility and the topography. To get to the site, there was a steep drop-off from the access road which continued to slope down to the water’s edge. Our crew made the job much easier by using large machinery.
The logs are native to the Rocky Mountains and were milled in nominal lengths for efficient installation. The finishes were done at a later date after the crew had completed the assembly of the logs, roof and windows.
Instead of using the traditional chinking process to seal the joints between logs, we opted for the smoother texture of color-matched caulk to provide a much cleaner look.
